John Fisher is a senior lecturer in the Marketing Department of Boston College’s Carroll School of Management, where he has taught since 2014. His areas of expertise include branding, product management and development, sales management, advertising, PR, and marketing strategy.
Professor Fisher began his collegiate teaching career after 34 years in industry at Saucony, Inc (SCNYA & SCNYB), a leading manufacturer/marketer of athletic footwear and apparel. During his Saucony tenure he held a series of advertising, marketing, strategic business development, branding, product management and sales positions including Advertising Manager, National Sales Manager, VP Sales, VP Marketing, President of the Footwear Division, and eventually CEO and Chairman of the Board of the Corporation. Professor Fisher managed the sale of the corporation in 2005 to the Stride Rite company (Lexington, MA), wherein he served for one year as a consultant to the newly merged companies. After his consultancy term expired at Stride Rite, he joined Babson College’s Marketing Department in January 2007. He joined the CSOM undergraduate and graduate faculty in September 2014.
Professor Fisher holds an undergraduate degree (BA) in Economics from Marietta College and an MBA from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College. Between graduating Boston College and joining Saucony, he taught economics at Chamberlayne Junior College in Boston. He has served on a number of boards including health care, private school education, nonprofits, sailing organizations, and the arts community. He is a life-long passionate and active yachtsman, having raced sailboats from Maine to Florida and internationally to Nova Scotia and Bermuda. He has two children, one who works at òòò½Ö±²¥ in the athletic department and another who is a faculty member at Colby College.
Professor Fisher is the faculty liaison for the Boston College Chapter of the American Marketing Association. He is also a teaching mentor for the Marketing Department’s adjunct faculty. Outside of òòò½Ö±²¥, John is a principal at Jazz Advisors, LLC, whose client list includes a variety of companies and industries such as athletic footwear & apparel, insurance, banking, luxury retail, architecture, sporting goods, and nonprofits, amongst others. He currently serves on the Brigham & Women’s Hospital Board of Overseers and Emergency Medicine Board. He has been a member of Chief Executives Organization Worldwide, a nomination-only membership group, since 1998.
