Joseph M. Pastore, Jr., who served briefly as Boston College's executive vice president in the early 1990s, died on May 13. He was 77.

Dr. Pastore was appointed as òòò½Ö±²¥â€™s executive vice president in 1991, replacing Frank Campanella, who had held the position for 18 years.

He also established a group of University vice presidents and other administrators to meet periodically on operational matters.

He resigned as EVP during the 1992-93 holiday semester break and later returned to Pace University, where he had been university provost at the time of his appointment to òòò½Ö±²¥, and taught at its Lubin School of Business until his retirement. In addition to his career in academia, Dr. Pastore served as federal monitor for the U.S. District Court in the Southern District of New York, overseeing a federal order for the segregation of the Yonkers Public Schools.
