Exhibitions at the ֱ Museum of Art

ֱ's ֱ Museum of Art Tour on April 3rd.

The ֱ Museum of Art has graciously arranged a docent-led tour of its current exhibition, "Wonders of Creation: Art, Science and Innovation in the Islamic World" for ֱARF members. The tour will take place at 2 PM on Thursday, April 3 at the ֱ Museum on the Brighton Campus.This tour time has been arranged so that it will follow our ֱARF seminar that day, which will feature retired Communication Department faculty member Ann Marie Barry, who will be speaking on "The Mind of Art: An Exposition of How Visual Perception Interfaces with Cognition and Aesthetic Appreciation." Thus, there may be some complementaritybetween theseminar topic and thetour. However, if you do not attend the seminar, you may still join the tour by arriving at the ֱ Museum between 1:45 and 2 PM that day.


Yawkey Center

Annual Banquet on May 21st.

The annual Boston College Retired Faculty Association banquet will be held on campus in the Murray Room at the Yawkey Center at 6 PM on Wednesday, May 21st.It is a wonderful event with a chance to meet with your colleagues, catch up on what is going on at ֱ, win some prizes, and have a great meal.

Retirement Resources.

The Association of Retirement Organizations in Higher Education (AROHE) is a national consortium of college and university retirement organizations for faculty and staff. Your ֱARF is a member. AROHE sponsors periodic webinars, group travel opportunities and other programming that may be of interest to retired faculty. Descriptions and registration information for AROHE programs can be found at their website,arohe.org..

See your colleagues in person at the ֱARF meetings.

The Boston College Association of Retired Faculty Programs, Topical Seminars, and Book Club meetings (see schedule below) will be held at 300 Hammond Pond Parkway in Newton. This is also the location of the ֱARF office. The office is the first office on your left as you enter the building. Faculty are welcome to use the resources there.

A light buffet lunch will be served before both the the Program Meetings and the Topical Seminar Meetings. Lunch begins at 11:30 AM, followed by the meeting at noon.

Research Grants Deadline:

For the 2024-25 fiscal year, we will have two rounds of retired faculty research grant awards. The submission deadlines are June 15 and October 15. The ֱARF Grants Committee will award up to two grants, each with a proposed budget between $100 and $1,000.

Researchproposals should follow the guidelines on the ֱARF website (scroll down to "Faculty Grants"). Proposals should be submitted electronically to me atrobert.taggart@bc.edu.

Faculty Activities:

We have added a new section where we can highlight retired faculty activities. These might include books, research papers, community service, volunteer work, or any other items that you think might be of interest to your retired faculty colleagues. If you wish to have an item posted, send the information to Bob Taggart atrobert.taggart@bc.edu
